I love natural deodorants. Not all of them work for me. In fact, most don’t. But after using the same deodorant for 2 years I like to switch it up every now and again to see if I can find one I love more. It also is a good idea to switch it up if you find one stops working for you. This Soapwalla is a deodorant that is rated one of the best selling natural deodorants. Most have a similar mix of ingredients which usually include some coconut oil, other oils, shea butter, a powder, essential oils and bicarbonate of soda. I love a natural blend but it really does take some time to find one you like. Keep reading for the full review.
The texture of this one is as described on the Content website: like frosting. It is a a creamy but thick formula that is applied with the fingers from the tub. It feels very soft and is easy to rub onto the arm pit for easy application. I have found with natural deodorants it is best to apply the deodorant AFTER putting your top on. This prevents the white deodorant smudge from getting on the clothes whilst dressing. As this is an oil based product, it does melt when it gets warm. It is much easier to apply when it is solid as this is less messy and allows for easy application. But it does require washing hands afterwards.
The scent of this is like a flower garden with heavy hints of lavender. It is a pleasant smells. I personal love subtle natural scents. The scent isn’t noticeable by others because of this.
Does it work?
This is definitely not a “running around town all day during the summer” or a “post 40-minute run then hang out with people” kind of deodorant. It is so not strong enough for that! If you’re a natural deodorant user you’ll know that it does require a wipe off and re-apply 2-3 times a day depending. This particular deodorant is not one of my favourites. It is okay for a casual day maybe on a weekend as it is minimally protective and doesn’t irritate the skin and is pleasant to wear. However, when I start to sweat it melts and smudges and I have found it hard to full remove the odour scent before reapplying. I also think it makes me smell worse than if I wasn’t wearing anything at all as the body odour sticks to the deodorant oily residue remnants and requires scrubbing to remove.
Overall, I wouldn’t re-buy this product. It was nice at first as it’s a new scent and a different formula but it is not worth the £16.00 price tag for the reasons mentioned above. Have you tried this deodorant?
