My Morning Skincare Routine
I love skincare. I especially love natural clean skincare. It’s taken me a lot of trial and error to finally find a skincare routine, for both morning and evening, that actually works for me. I have acne prone skin and previously I’ve tried a lot of clean versions of strong “for acne” marketed products. However, I realised that simple is best. For me and a lot of people, acne comes from inflammation. Inflammation of the gut, of the body and in this skin. The skin is a place that retains heat so knowing my skin is inflamed helped me realise I shouldn’t use products that create even more heat. My skincare routine now uses cooling products with noninflammatory properties. These contain plant based ingredients that are nutrient rich so really feed the skin. Facial Mist/Toner: Herbivore Botanical Rose Hibiscus or Ere Perez Face Tonic
I am really enjoying using a cooling non-acid toner first thing in the morning. I don’t cleanse my skin in the morning so I like to give my skin a wipe down and a spritz with a toner. The Herbivore Rose Hibiscus mist has cooling properties from the rose water and the coconut water. Ere Perez Face Tonic has cooling properties from the green tea and witch hazel. The witch hazel in the mist is great for acne prone skin also.
This Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil eye cream lasts for ages. I think it took me 5 months to get through my previous tub of this products. I like it because it’s super gentle on the skin whilst being really moisturising at the same time. It feels cool under the eye without being irritating. It’s easy to apply make-up over the top of as it soaks in quickly. Love this product.
This Ere Perez Serum is currently my favourite serum. It feels like a green smoothie for the face which is how it is described. It’s very cooling and anti inflammatory for the skin from the main ingredients: “Desert fruit quandong contains twice the vitamin C of oranges and helps to reduce signs of lines and calm inflamed skin. Chlorophyll, spinach leaf, vitamin E, alfalfa and raspberry seed oil powerfully deliver essential enzymes and vitamin A straight to the skin.” It also has hyaluronic acid so is it hydrating.
This Juice Beauty SPF moisturiser is my favourite SPF. I like to keep my day time skincare minimal so I like having the SPF in a moisturiser which reduces the need for an extra step. This one is great for acne prone skin as it’s made with fruit extracts and zinc oxide for the SPF. It is white when applied but the white disappears once rubbed in. It isn’t greasy so I love this stuff.
