A Look Inside My Glow Space
Glow Space: A personal space that is an extension of your personality. A space designed and/or decorated to make you feel enlightened, happy and the best version of yourself. A comfortable place to reside to at the end of the day. A place that brings you the utmost joy.
This is a different type of post for me, as I focus my blog around natural beauty. However, I wanted to share something personal. I find that as much as I love beauty and food, I do love a bit of interior. I find I can express myself through my interior space more than I can with clothing sometimes, so that’s what I try to do.
These pictures are details from my 3rd year University flat bedroom. This year I’m not living in student accommodation, but I am living in an already furnished apartment, which means the furniture isn’t mine. At first I thought I would struggle to work with the dark colour of the drawers and wardrobe as I prefer a white, open, and bright space. However, as I started arranging my belongings and bringing in personal touches it came together so well.
This year I wanted to add more sentimental items to my space. In previous years I have kept my space very minimalist, but I wanted to make things cozy. I am also really loving the look of stacking books or magazines on the floor, and in the images you can also see how I’ve stacked a few shoe boxes.
My room encompasses different elements of my personality. I have my vintage eclectic style with my Russian dolls that I have had since I was a child, my Staffordshire pottery dogs which were an eBay steal, and my oversized tin money jar. I have also brought in the fashion side of me with my clothes rail of coats, my shoe boxes and my beloved vogue magazines. I only brought 1 years worth of children with me (I call them my children) back to Manchester and left the rest at home. Lastly, I have really tried to incorporate my love for mindfulness and spirituality into my space with crystals, sage and books by my favourite gurus. This element really grounds me and brings everything together.
I have also added a few more trinkets since these pictures were taken, and other things that I love have been left out of the pictures. For example, my bed is my happy place. I have many pillows and love how cozy it looks. I also have a world map on the wall that comes with me to every location. It pulls everything together and hides grubby marks on the wall that have been left from previous tenants.
Overall, I am very happy with my space this year. It really shows my personality and style, and definitely sparks joy.
