I Started Dry Body Brushing & Why You Should Too

DRY BODY BRUSHING

Dry body brushing was one of those things that kept popping up for me. You know, a sign from the universe as I like to say. Maybe I was attracting my overwhelming need for it’s benefits, but who ever really knows?! Anyway, it took me a few months but I finally bought one, around 6 months ago now, and I love it. I was so so picky when deciding which one to purchase and I searched far and wide for this particular shape (seen in image) so thank you eBay for my final discovery.

Dry body brushing didn’t disappoint me. At first it hurt, and I mean really hurt. It was so scratchy on my skin that I became momentarily enraged at all the searching I embarked on for a brush to play me like this. However, I persevered. Eventually, the bristles softened up, or my skin got used to the feeling, or I started not to press so hard; either way I mastered the art of dry body brushing. Honestly, it really isn’t that difficult, and my brush actually explains how to use it on the label.

The process has many benefits, and if you have never heard of doing this before you may be a tad confused. So below I will tell you how to do it, why you should do it, and also all the amazing benefits that the interweb claims this process has. Then I will tell you why I like it, so keep on reading.

How To Dry Body Brush

This part is really very simple. Before getting into the bath or shower, you move the brush over the skin in small circular movements. It is recommended that you start at your feet and move up the body; brushing upwards towards the heart. I repeat this on both legs, up my body, and then along both arms; again brushing towards the heart. Avoid all sensitive areas, or areas with softer parts of skin, and when it come to the back: brush downwards. That’s pretty much it.

But Why Should I?

I started to dry body brush due to the large amount of health benefits associated with the process. The benefits will explain this pretty well, but I chose to start because I wanted to improve my circulation and get rid of my flaky skin. I also recommend this because it’s a very cheap, extremely easy and effective way of giving your body a gentle scrub. The skin is the bodies largest organ so it’s important not to neglect taking care of it. Brushes all vary in prices and many sizes and even bristle softness. Benefits are listed below.

The Benefits

  • Improves circulation of the blood as well as improving lymphatic drainage.
  • Helps to remove cellulite and fluid retention due to improved circulation and lymphatic drainage.
  • Removes dead skin cells and is a gentle exfoliation that is very easy to do.
  • It softens and tones the skin from removing the dead skin cells.
  • Removing dead skin cells also helps improve the skins absorption of moisturisers and oils.

Why I Love It

Dry body brushing is so easy for anyone to do, and it takes less than 5 minutes. I love it because my natural moisturiser absorbs into the skin quicker, and my skin feels fresh and exfoliated. I also get less ingrowing hairs on my legs in between shaving.
